They say, “do what you love, and you will never work a day in your life”. I always thought to myself, ‘what the HELL does that mean!? Seriously, how many times are you heard that? Yet, no one ever bothers to explain it, is this because they don’t know either and are just riding that short bus waiting for their stop?
How I interpreted this was, do something you enjoy (love) to do, and it’ll never feel like you’re working. Right? Not for this guy! I love working on cars, hated working on other people’s cars. I love writing, I hate writing for other people, especially for educational reason (school) and all they want is for you to say what they want you to say. I love remodeling and doing DIY projects, yet I hate dealing with homeowners and they’re low budget, high expectations. I love helping people, yet I hate talking to most people and I hate these over entitles bosses who like to think they are leaders.
My solution to this… I am still looking for it! I have some ideas on paper, looked at legal obligations but for now, I am going to try this. I have read, if you want to build a website or blog, find your niche, and stick to it. I tried that, and lost interest VERY quickly. I just have to many things that I want to share and help with. So, much like everything else in life, I am going to do it my way and see how that goes. So far, I’m loving it.
My advice to you in this, my first article on this attempt, do not limit yourself. As kids, something seemed so cool and fascinating one minute, then the next it vanished. You show me something you still have, other than yourself or a photo, from your childhood and you would be the first. We grow, we develop, and our interests can change from day to day. So, work different jobs, explore different degrees in school, talk to different people and expand your knowledge. Do not ever settle, one day, the right thing with stop you in your tracks; or perhaps the right thing just slows you down and leads you to another right thing.
