Over the past 2 years we have seem a huge trend in working remotely. This is of course, primarily, due to the over-whelming “covid-19” situation. What this has allowed most Americans to do though, is see that there is life outside of their jobs! This has also, from what I have seen, humbled some employers (finally) as they are seeing that if they do not treat their staff properly, there won’t be a staff left to do the work.
According to Flexjobs, 41% of the American workforce worked from home in 2020, while it is projected that only 27% will continue to work from home in 2021, and only 22% are projected to still be working from home by 2025.
Why is the trend declining, and how are they “projecting” these numbers? It is probably from some type of pole that was posted on Facebook that was multiple-choice between remote, office, and both. I for one, do enjoy some human interaction from time to time, but not near as much as I enjoy seeing and spending time with my family.
Something that I have personally noticed, working from home gives you ample opportunity to find and do hobbies, or start a side gig that can potentially start a small business. That is what some dream of, and I am one.
My situation is slightly different though, I have a 9-5 brick and motor, I write, I started doing a little marketing that I am looking to increase with-in the next year. After-which, I will finally get to take a shot at my own business(es)!
Why aren’t more people demanding this be an option? Well sadly, most people don’t like taking risks, they are more comfortable with depending on outside sources of income. There is NOTHING wrong with that, someone must do it, and this is one of the few instances where I am glad it’s them instead of me.
That risk is even greater, when you have a family, but when you have an amazing wife or husband that doesn’t mind supporting you while things get off the ground (even if it’s unknowingly at first haha) it isn’t as bad. You just NEED to ensure you do your part. That doesn’t mean just doing the leg work to get your dreams started, that means setting aside enough money to cover your cost of living for 8-12 months.
That most likely means cutting YOUR spending, don’t make your family sacrifice too much to realize your dreams though. Or you could be a little more responsible and get some of your business started while you are still drawing that other paycheck. This is the ideal situation.
A report from Voodle shows that people who work from home are happier, healthier, and far more productive than when they worked in an office. The only thing I can possibly relate this to is far less micromanaging. Which in turn, should mean the managers and supervisors should be more productive as well, or their higher-ups will see that their positions are not needed.

My hope is that more Americans will look into these opportunities. This will create more opportunity in the future, and benefit not only us, but our children and of course the companies as well. Too Many of them have forgotten that happy and healthy employees are good employees. So, let’s take back our lives, take back our happiness, and hold them accountable for how they treat their employees. While we are at it, let’s take this principle and apply it to goods! If we would wise up and stop paying these outrageous prices for good, foods, and electronics then perhaps those companies will stop being greedy and charging 1400.00 for a phone that has the same hardware as previous versions and only takes an 8” drop to crack the screens. Gorilla company should sue the manufacturers of “gorilla” glass. Just saying.
I do hope this helped some of you see that there are options out there for a better life. If you could, please share this with everyone you know looking to improve their lives, or anyone just looking for something different. We need to increase those numbers. Think of this, if you’re concerned about the environment, this will reduce emissions because we won’t need to drive to work, and less traffic means less traffic-jams.
